Octoberama 2026, vol. 3 – Screamboat/The Mouse Trap
Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! It’s the Week of the Mouse! Octoberama continues as we celebrate the House of Mouse in the most legally distinct way possible, with two horror movies that prove some things are better left in the public domain.
First up, in Real World Horror, a group of tourists in Malta discover their vacation rental might come with a few unadvertised amenities, including disembodied voices, moving objects, and a ghost who apparently doesn’t understand personal space. In Horror Business, Sam from Trick ‘r Treat is back to spread some Halloween cheer, Mike Flanagan gives us a glimpse of his upcoming Exorcist movie, and Fortnite gets a frightening makeover. We also discuss George A. Romero’s posthumous zombie swan song and a new haunted house flick produced by Sam Raimi.
Then it’s time to put on our mouse ears and wish upon a star as we venture into the wonderful world of copyright expiration. First, a birthday celebration turns into a bloodbath when a familiar-looking cartoon character goes on a killing spree in The Mouse Trap. Then we set sail aboard a New York City ferry where a monstrous rodent is ready to turn a pleasure cruise into a nightmare in Screamboat.
So grab your mouse ears, keep your hands and feet inside the boat, and join us for another magical, murderous installment of The Grave Plot Podcast!
NOTE: The audio gets a little wonky near the end. I did my best to fix it, but it is what it is. -Tony
